HHAeXchange and MiLogin: Michigan's October 2026 Change

Michigan's HHAeXchange portal access moved to MiLogin on October 5, 2026. Start with the state's instructions for your portal and role. A provider agency administrator and an individual caregiver may need different guidance; do not assume every app user should create the same account.

The MDHHS transition notice directs payer and provider agency portal users to MiLogin for Business. It gives a Citizens route for specified managing-employer roles in other programs and says Services Portal guidance needs separate attention.

Identify the service you are trying to reach

Before resetting a password, write down whether the task is recording a visit, reviewing shifts, administering an agency, or working on CHAMPS enrollment. The same person can have several tasks and accounts. Naming the task makes a support conversation more useful than saying only “Michigan login is broken.”

Our CHAMPS registration guide addresses provider enrollment. This article addresses the HHAeXchange portal access change. Keep the two sets of instructions with their respective account names.

For agency administrators: check the account link

HHAeXchange's MiLogin provider guide explains the initial account-linking step and the Single Sign On Username field used in user management. The existing HHAeXchange credentials are used during linking, after which MiLogin becomes the sign-in route.

Practical preparation before making changes:

  1. Confirm the exact MiLogin user ID for the person who needs access.
  2. Check which organization and portal that person should be able to use.
  3. Have an authorized administrator compare those details with the portal user record.
  4. Record what was changed and test the intended task, not just whether a login page opens.

Avoid creating several replacement accounts while the original account's access is unresolved. That can leave your team uncertain which identity owns the correct permissions. Ask support whether linking or a permission correction is the appropriate next step.

For individual caregivers: ask which instructions apply

Do not use agency-administrator screens simply because a search result mentions Michigan. Open the current state notice and the Michigan individual-provider Services Portal guide, then confirm your route with the program contact if the instructions do not match the screen you see.

Prepare a short description: “I am an individual Home Help caregiver. I can [describe what works], but I cannot [describe the blocked task]. I am using [portal or app name]. Which account route and linking steps apply to me?”

Make a support request that can be acted on

Include the time of the attempt, the portal name, the task, and the exact error text. A screenshot can help, but crop out client information and never include passwords or one-time codes. Use the official support contact linked from the state notice.

Keep a note of the support reference number, instructions, and next check. If visit records are affected, separately ask your worker or employer how to maintain required records while access is being restored. A portal problem does not establish that a payment was denied.

Keep account security separate from referral help

CarePay Michigan does not need your MiLogin password, CHAMPS credentials, or authentication codes. Its inquiry form is for contact details and general questions. For a technical access problem, use the state or HHAeXchange support route. For program terminology, read our EVV guide. Agencies can use the agency inquiry page for referral questions.
